Position: CALLAWAY PLANTATION MUSEUM COORDINATOR
Employment Status: Part-time - Thursday-Saturday 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Work Location: Callaway Plantation 2160 Lexington Road Washington, GA. Works inside and outdoors.
Job Summary:
Responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating all aspects of public education programs and collection management for Callaway Plantation. Conduct tours of the site and manage RV campgrounds.
An employee in this position may be required to perform any or all of the following duties:
· Oversee and coordinate work activities, schedule museum tours and workshops, and personally conduct multiple tours daily.
· Plan special events.
· Evaluate museum educational programs and recommend changes to enhance program attendance and increase revenue.
· Manage the museum store by setting up vendor partnerships and ordering merchandise.
· Sell museum admission using the Edmunds Program and manage merchandise sales.
· Oversee the inventory and profit-and-loss statements.
· Act as a liaison between the museum and various public agencies.
· Operate a personal computer and utilize relevant software to produce a variety of written materials, graphics, mailing lists, and correspondence.
· Representing the museum at various public functions.
· Serve as an operator for the museum collection.
· Assist with preparing and administrating grants, while balancing and maintaining accounts.
· Perform administrative duties, including daily reports, computer operations, museum opening and closing procedures, money transportation, typing, photocopying, and data entry as needed.
· Research primary sources about local history and develop materials for the general public.
· Oversee the management of permanent museum collections, including acquisitions, cataloging, long-term loans, special exhibits, research, conservation, and preservation.
· Respond to inquiries about the collections.
· Handle reservations for the RV campground and gain a basic understanding of the facility.
· Occasionally work evenings for special events.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA’s) for Position
An employee in this class must have the following knowledge, skills, and abilities upon application:
· Highschool Diploma
· Preferred: 1-2 years of experience in historical tourism
· Basic knowledge of the history of Wilkes County and Georgia
· Familiarity with modern office practices and procedures
· Strong written and verbal communication skills, along with good interpersonal skills
· Experience in public relations and customer service
· Basic bookkeeping and office skills
· Ability to follow and convey oral and written instructions
· Proficient in operating various office equipment, including computer terminals, printers, and cash registers
Abilities
· Collaborate as a team.
· Interact respectfully with the public.
· Prepare and deliver effective public speaking presentations.
· Engage in fundraising and grant writing.
The following physical abilities are required:
· Climbing: Ascending and descending stairs.
· Walking: This job requires the employee to walk the site multiple times daily.
· Lifting: Requires light lifting of 25 lbs. or less.
· This job requires the employee to work both indoors and outdoors.
